Under 6s to under 12s use a 1m x 1m square black rubber take off mat. It is painted in half with yellow paint. The yellow side closest to the sand. Athletes are to take off from the black area without touching the yellow area. All non-foul jumps are measured from the back point of imprint in the landing area (sand) made by any part of the body or limbs, to the front point of imprint on the take off mat (ensure mat is sufficiently dusted to allow imprint). Touching yellow painted section is a foul. Take off from in front of the mat is also a foul. If an athlete takes off from behind the mat measurements are to the back edge of the mat.
Under 13s to Under 17s use the 1m x 1m rubber take off mat with a 200mm yellow strip across the centre area of the mat. The take off area is on the yellow section without crossing over the front of that section. All non-foul jumps are measured from the back point of imprint in the landing area (sand) made by any part of the body or limbs, then the tape measure is placed in a position that is parallel along the run up section. The front point of imprint is then measured square across to the tape. If an athlete takes off from behind the mat measurements are to the back edge of the mat.
